I’ve liked and enjoyed Dropbox as a service for storing files in the “cloud” and easily syncing them between devices. It definitely meets the Networked criteria of durable digital archives, but likely not the Privacy point, and certainly not the Open Source point.
ownCloud looks like it would tick all three boxes. And they have native apps for Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android, which should help a lot towards the easy/unconscious requirement. I think I’ll be installing this and mucking about with it this coming weekend.
